Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit for a Machine Shop Manager to join their team. Our client is a leading manufacturer specializing in precision machining and high-quality components. They are known for their commitment to innovation, quality, and customer satisfaction.
The Machine Shop Manager will lead and inspire a team of machinists and operators to meet production goals while fostering a positive work environment. This role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, ensuring seamless workflow, and maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and inspire a team of machinists and operators to meet production goals while fostering a positive work environment.
Provide mentorship and guidance to team members for skill enhancement and performance improvement.
Take charge of day-to-day operations in the machine shop, ensuring seamless workflow and on-time project completion.
Develop and execute production schedules, prioritizing tasks to fulfill customer requirements.
Track inventory levels of raw materials and finished goods, reporting any discrepancies.
Establish and uphold quality control measures to meet customer requirements and AS9100 standards of machined components and assemblies.
Collaborate with the quality assurance team to address quality-related issues promptly and effectively.
Optimize resource allocation, including manpower, equipment, and materials, to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
Monitor and manage expenses to align with budgetary constraints.
Identify opportunities and implement continuous improvement strategies to boost productivity and minimize waste.
Stay abreast of industry trends and technological advancements, recommending and implementing relevant improvements.
Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and regulatory compliance.
Work closely with Sales to quote new business opportunities for machined parts.
Order raw materials for the machining department.
Manage and execute Preventive Maintenance System for all production and building equipment.
Manage tool room, tools, supplies, and employees.
Required Skills:
Outstanding organizational and problem-solving abilities.
Demonstrated record of effectively managing and motivating diverse teams.
Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to effectively use MS Outlook and Word.
Ability to learn and use ERP computer systems for routings and scheduling, and quoting software.
Education and Experience:
Associate’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, precision metal working, a related field, or equivalent hands-on machining experience preferred.
6+ years of hands-on experience in a leadership capacity within a machine shop environment.
Experience in tight tolerance, precision machining/manufacturing environment.
In-depth expertise in machining processes, equipment, CNC programming, and tooling.
