Their work ensures that the metal stamping process produces high-quality, precise, and repeatable parts for automotive, aerospace, and manufacturing industries. RESPONSIBILITIES – A tool and die maker at HSI creates custom tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures needed for metal stamping and manufacturing. – They work with engineers to translate design blueprints into functional tools and dies that meet exact specifications. – Die makers assemble and fit the dies, ensuring that all components align correctly to produce the intended metal parts during stamping. – Dies can be single-stroke or progressive (where multiple operations happen in one stroke) and are made to withstand high-pressure stamping conditions. – Regularly inspect and maintain tools and dies to ensure that they remain sharp, functional, and safe to use. – If a die becomes worn or damaged, they perform repairs, which may include regrinding, reshaping, or replacing worn components. – Uses precision measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to check dimensions and ensure tolerances are met. – Helps troubleshoot stamping issues like misalignment or part defects, adjusting dies as needed to maintain product quality.
