Job Description:

Company Description We are a state-wide non-profit trade association that has been around 70 years. We primarily focus on workforce development initiatives- helping young and under-represented people get into the skilled trades, and help companies get better at developing this skilled talent. We do this by partnering with state leadership, educators, employers, and the communities. Events are a key part of this process, because it brings these people together to build relationships, trust, and open communication for partnerships. Job Details The Events Coordinator is key to making our in-person activities a success. We have several major events each year that have been going on for 30, 40, or even 50 years! The Events Coordinator plans out each of these events, working with venues, vendors, presenters, food selection, and activities planning. The process starts in our HubSpot ERP/CRM module with setting up the events, establishing registration, assisting attendees with registration, and then ends with financial review and lessons learned. Though the Events Coordinator may work fairly autonomous, we do have a strong team that is here to support with communications and marketing, member engagement, idea generation, and strategic support. We also just invested in a brand-new ERP/CRM system which will make this role much more efficient and effective! It is a team effort, but the Events Coordinator holds the reigns to making successful events to engage our members and communities! Hours can be flexible with most remote, though the Events Coordinator would need to be present for all in-person events. Hours might be lighter (closer to 15) during quieter times, and closer to 25 hours the week before and week of a major event. Qualification Required Skills/Abilities: • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail • CRM and ERP experience (ideally HubSpot experience) • Microsoft Office Proficient (Word, Excel, Power Point, experience with Mail Merge) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Ability to create, implement, and monitor budgets • Thorough understanding of principles and methods used to execute events • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to liaise with stakeholders and vendors • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines Education and Experience: • Preferred Bachelor's degree in event management, hospitality, or a related field • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in corporate event planning or a similar role • Exceptional organizational and time management skills • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills Physical Requirements: • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer • Standing at signature events for 6-9 hours • Must be able to lift 25-50 pounds at time Responsibilities • Ensure events are executed smoothly and professionally to boost the association’s reputation and member engagement in events • Assist in the promotional plan of the events • Plan and coordinate all aspects of MPMA’s events, including, but not limited to:  Golden Gloves boxing – March  Golf- July  Shoot for Scholarships- September/October  Celebration of Mfg – Oct/Nov  Support for community workforce development events  Monthly Toolbox Talks – Industry specific Lunch and Learns (about 1 x per month) • Performs other duties as assigned Company Purpose Achieve member and community engagement through successful events that bring people together and help further our mission of strengthening Minnesota Manufacturing through developing a skilled workforce!
