Job Summary: A Quality Inspector II will play a critical part in maintaining high standards by performing comprehensive inspections, analyzing data, and identifying solutions to improve quality control processes. Duties/Responsibilities: -Support the fulfillment of high-risk customer requirements including FAIs and PPAPs. -Conduct in-depth inspections of raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods according to established specifications, engineering drawings, and industry standards. -Utilize a variety of metrology equipment (calipers, gauges, micrometers, etc.) and potentially operate more complex testing equipment to verify product functionality and performance. -Create basic programs for automated inspection equipment including vision systems and CMMs. -Analyze inspection data to identify trends, potential quality issues, and areas for improvement. -Participate in root cause analysis to determine the source of quality problems and recommend corrective actions. -Assist with implementing corrective actions and monitoring their effectiveness (may involve collaborating with production teams). -Oversee specific inspection areas or production lines, ensuring adherence to quality control procedures. -Mentor and train junior inspectors on inspection techniques, proper operation of equipment, data analysis, and quality control principles. -Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, documenting findings and recommendations. -Stay up to date on industry standards and best practices for quality control. -Continuously improve quality control processes by identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency enhancements, and defect prevention. -Communicate effectively with production, engineering, and management regarding quality control issues and improvement initiatives. Required Skills/Abilities: -Strong attention to detail and a commitment to achieving a high-quality standard. -Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes of quality issues. -Proficient in using various measuring instruments and quality control software. -Ability to interpret blueprints, specifications, and industry standards. -Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various teams. -Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative in problem-solving. -Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills. -Strong work ethic and commitment to safety. Education and Experience: -High school diploma or equivalent preferred. -1-2 years of experience in quality control or a related field. Physical Requirements: -Good vision is necessary for inspecting products, reading specifications, and operating measuring instruments. -Must be able to pass a vision test conducted by a licensed optometrist. -The ability to manipulate tools and equipment effectively is crucial. -Typically spend a portion of time standing at inspection stations or walking around the production floor. -Extended periods of time sitting at a desk to review data or complete paperwork. -Occasionally lifting or carrying of light materials, parts or tools (typically under 15 lbs.). -The ability to handle and move parts up to 35 lbs. -Inspecting products on lower shelves or working with equipment on the ground might require bending or kneeling. -Inspecting products on high shelves or operating overhead equipment might require reaching. -Good hearing to identify noises associated with malfunctions or improper equipment operation.
